Well, I took it to my insurance company to get it taken care of, and they did. The hospital that had billed me sent it to a collection agency. The case is resolved and closed now because it was a mistake, but it is on my credit report!! How do I get it removed??

My hubby had spinal surgery last week. He should have been out of the hospital but there were minor complications and unexpected pain. I have been struggling with how to handle this situation… His mom has taken over. First she’s been introducing me as his “girlfriend” to the doctors and physical therapists… So they have been giving her all his post op info. Its as if I am not there and invisible. His brother had to tell one of them to talk to ME at which point MOM huffed off. Then she completely screwed up his contact info, using hers as his address and even went so far as to discuss payments and insurance with them!! Because of her “mistake” I may end up with the entire hospital bill not being covered… now we all know in order to leave the hospital you have to show some independence, even just getting up alone… well… I walked in yesterday and she was FEEDING him… like a baby!!! She left me alone with him for a little while and he was a totally different…
person. He needed help getting up but he walked to the bathroom alone and even stood for a while. The nurses aide was shocked he was up and around and using the bathroom by himself. She said his Mom has been walking him and going in with him. My opinion is I am seeing how much of a Mama’s boy he is. WHich is fine, he’s hurt… but that she’s being so coddling and overstepping her boundaries that is frustrating to me. She even has numbers to contact people in an emergency not me.. who will be caring for him. I can’t wait to get him home because I think he’ll get better faster without her hovering… what is the best way to handle this situation without ticking everyone off?

Here’s the deal –

My brother “John Johnson”, and his girlfriend “Sara Smith” had to take their son to the hospital (he fractured his finger). The girlfriend filled out all of the paper work. She put her name as the mother, put her sons name down in all the right spots too.

Then the bill came and the name on the bill is “Sara Johnson” (her first name, his last name). This wasn’t a mistake she made, it’s a mistake the hospital made. So now she figures, she doesn’t have to pay because of the technicality.

any truth to that?
The first question I asked her was “what insurance company do you have?” she said she doesn’t have any insurance!!

When I was 19 years old I became very ill very suddenly and was taken into the emergency room by an ambulance. I was unconscious for most of the episode, I did not give the hospital any information, I did not sign anything at all; at the time I was homeless.

I was never billed for the treatment.

Here I am 8 years later. I was refused financing based on a collection on file. When I checked my credit report I had a collection with a company called Credit Control Corporation for over $3000.00 dollars. The address listed on my credit report was an address that I haven’t lived at since I was 17. The hospital gave the collection company outdated and completely invalid (even when I was 19) contact information and as a result it my credit was ruined. Is there anything that I can do other than just pay the bill? I don’t feel that I should be held responsible for the hospital’s mistake.

My wife was given a prescription to reduce the swelling in her feet. It was HCTZ. Her records report she has always been allergic to sulfa drugs. We have used this Doctor for years. HCTZ has sulfa in it, she had a major reaction to this that took her out of work for two weeks, so it could clear her system. She had to take an ambulance to the hospital. The doctor is aware now of what happened, but offered to only fix it. What do I do about the bills from the hospital and ambulance?

I recieved a letter from a CA stating that they are trying to collect on an account from a hospital. The account has been passed on from the hospital to another company (maybe an accounting firm) and then to the CA. The service date goes back over 7 years for one bill and over 9 years for another. This is the first time I have been contacted re: these bills. The hospital has never sent us a bill or tried to contact us. I don’t even know if I owe this or if is some type of billing mistake. I know that there is a time limit on collections, but not sure how it is calculated. Has any one experieced this or have advice.
