Autism: Advice For Parents

Autism Research Institute~~Summary: The Autism Research Institute (ARI), a non-profit organization, was established in 1967 by Bernard Rimland, Ph.D. For over 40 years, ARI has focused its efforts on conducting and disseminating research findings on the triggers of autism and on methods of diagnosis and treatment. ARI’s current director, Stephen M. Edelson, Ph.D., has been active in the field of autism for more than 30 years, and he worked closely with Dr. Rimland for 20 years. There are two parts to this application. The first part is an advice paper written by Drs. James B. Adams, Stephen M. Edelson, Temple Grandin, and Bernard Rimland. The intended audience is parents of newly diagnosed children, and the overriding message is that “Autism Is Treatable.” Topics discussed include prevalence, diagnosis, diets, nutritional supplements, gastrointestinal problems, vaccines, ABA, speech development and much more. This part of the application is free to install. The second part of the application is an upgrade. It provides more in-depth information, along with recommended readings, about specific issues and treatments in the form of summaries and videos. Users can also access ARI’s monthly e-newsletter, past issues from ARI’s science newsletter, and more. In addition, users can complete ARI’s popular Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC). The ATEC is designed to help parents and professionals assess and monitor the child’s behavior over time in the areas of (1) speech/language/communication, (2) sociability, (3) sensory/cognitive awareness, and (4) health/physical/behavior. ATEC scores are stored on the user’s iphone/itouch and can be accessed at anytime. Many of the new articles posted on www.Autism.com will also be uploaded to the application on a regular basis for no extra charge. The cost of this upgrade is only 99 cents.
Need Advice From Army NCOs?
Question by sabresfan4ever1981: Need advice from Army NCOs?
I recently was denied my Green to Gold application because of a back injury in 2007. Even though I have spent 6 years in the army and have done 27 months in Iraq and score a 300 on my PT test the army says I am “ineligible due to medical issues.” I have never had a profile since 07 and I am taking this as a slap in the face. Can I sign a waiver to go G2G? And if not can I file for medboard since they are preventing professional advancement? I have 3 years left on my contract but this has killed alot of my motivation to stay in,,,,,,any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Q&A: Mommies, Can I Have Advice on How to Deal With Nosy Family Members?
Question by Sophia’s Mommy: Mommies, Can I have advice on how to deal with nosy family members?
Every time my husband and I come over to see the family, it seems like every parenting decision I have made gets put up for discussion.
I am currently 7 months pregnant, and everything for getting an epidural to breastfeeding to co-sleeping,vaccines, to be staying at home everyone has there input on it. And 99% of the time they say there right and I am wrong.
Even my father who has never been pregnant and never has dealt with anyone younger the 5 (I am adopted) he suddenly becomes the “expert”.
So my family will ask “Do you plan on nursing” and I said yes and suddenly How long/how often I should is in for the debate.
I hate when they say “I have had 5 kids” blah blah such and such so ” I KNOW” Listen to me it works better this way.
