My husband was overdosed in the hospital, because the nursing staff could not read the orders correctly. He was coded Blue, and sent to the ICU unit. I live over 6 hours away, they never called to tell me what was going on. I called the hospital after not hearing form my husband all day. I am here at the hospital now. They are acting like this was no big deal; but I know it was, I feel like we were overlooked in so many ways, I even asked to see a social worker because my husband is freeked out, they sent one in but she had no sempothy at all. Why is it that they act like this is no big deal?
So confused. Now we will have even more medical bills for the hospitals mistake. We talked to the pain doctors, and asked them what happened and they said; “the nureses dont know how to read”.
A nurse commented about the person in ICU and how they would stabalize he or she, I totally understand this, but this was 12 hours latter, That is no excuss…

How often does this happen with Medi-cal? How long will it take to fix?

ckwtime asked:

It seems that my medi-cal is approved in the county system, but when the hospital goes to bill, the state system says I am not elligible. I have talked to so many people and keep getting the run around. I went down there in person and they said they would fix it and give me a call. It’s been 2 days now.

Has this happened to anyone else? Are they quick to fix mistakes like this?

I’m pregnant, and I have submitted all of the paperwork, so I know it’s just a clerical error on their part. I just want to stop stressing about this already.

I have a question: I have a HIPAA Violation Termination on my personnel file. Have I thrown away my career?

Chatter1 asked:

I worked for a hospital doing ER charging and coding, my 15 month old grand daughter was admitted to the hospital in Feb. and diagnosed with asthma. In July she started with another attack, my daughter was hysterical when she called my office as she was driving to the baby’s doctor and asked me to look up the baby’s ER record and tell er the name of the medication they gave the baby in Feb. so she could make sure she was given the same medication because it worked immeditaly. I was terminated for this being a HIPAA violation and not following proper chain of command. Have I destroyed my medical billing career for this mistake in judgement?
