My boyfriends mom is having a major back surgury done in February. She had a person donate $10,000 to her for the expenses. She has all the money that has been donated and earned in a medical account, with her friend who is also on the account. She will be out of town for about 2 to 3 weeks, and she decided that it might be useful for her to have a laptop for research and bill paying. She used some of her medical money for this. Her friend called her in hysterics telling her that it was fraud and that she had to send it back or else she would take herself off the medical account and she wouldn’t go with her.
Is buying the computer really fraud? She’s willing to send it back, if she’s going to get in trouble, but not just because her friend says she has to. She has other people to go with her, and that she can put on the account.

As I said, She is willing to send the computer back, and she didn’t know that she wasn’t supposed to buy the laptop with that money, because it was donated by all family, but she was just wondering if that was just her friend being dumb, or if she was right. She will send the computer back immediately.

the donations were made to cover ALL costs, not just medical bills. that’s why she didn’t know it would be fraud

My question is… if workers comp and medicaid both deny his claims (unlikely but possible) when we marry later this year will I then become responsible for his incurred medical costs even though I am not legally his wife at the time of the accident?
I claimed him as my dependent to Medicaid in order to prove he was financially incapable of paying. He has no income and I support him which is basically what I had to say in a letter.
Medicaid considered it a “fraud” application because his mom also wrote the same letter – even though she was told not to — LONG story but I am getting a Marie Barone wanna be for a MIL

Your insurance is through that hospital, your employer.
The physician has signed a contract with and is a preferred provider for your insurance- as your PCP.
You have a health condition that requires you to receive the pneumonia vaccination every 5 years.

You go to Dr.s office and they tell you the vaccine is not covered by your insurance. The cost will be $120.

You decide to go home and verify (5yrs ago it was covered same doc/same insurance)
The insurance company says it is covered.

You call the physicians office. You get the Tech. They say that “it is covered but they don’t pay me enough to do the shot. So we don’t use the insurance on that. You must pay the $120.”
Now another patient, with medicare, gets same shot- his insurance is filed. He pays nothing.

They (office manager) say they have the right to do that on items that would not make a profit.

Um- I thought thats why we had insurance?

I just found out that she had medical bills sent to collections “in my name” back in January of 2006. From 01/2006 to 02 of 2008 (2 years) she failed to pay on the charges that were in collections. Just recently she began making payment toward the bill.

Here’s the deal:
I was UN-knowingly sent to collections over 2 years ago. She failed to pay the bills when she knew they exhisted. She also failed to tell me that they were on my credit.. and that my rating was being decreased the entire time. On top of that, she unlawfully changed my address with them, so that the bill would route to her home.
She has recked my credit.

Any advice on what can be done

We were paying for health insurance (blue cross & blue shield CareFirst PPO) through my husband’s job every two weeks for over a year until he quit on August 26th. But every time he or my son went to the doctor, they were coming back as ineligible. Upon calling the insurance company, I found out that no one on our policy had been eligible since March of 2008! This is also the time that his company went through an HR problem where they had no HR dept. at all for quite a few months. The lady at the insurance company said that someone from his job had gone in and adjusted our policy on September 3rd so that it shows no lapse in coverage. There should BE no policy; my husband quit on August 26th. The lady also said the policy is still active and covering our family. If someone went in and adjusted the policy, why didn’t they put the termination in?? We would like to get back the money paid into this since March, which is about $1200.00. The lady from the insurance company said that since the adjustment was made, all the denied claims will be paid. We would rather have the money and pay the bills off a little at a time, since the reason he quit is that we got evicted because the company cut everyone’s hours so badly and we have NO money. Is there a scenario where we can still get the money and was this legal of them in the first place?

The stupid person who told me how to do that ended up telling someone who told my sister (double betrayal) and now she told that person (she doesn’t have my #), to tell me she is pressing charges. Of course I can press charges against her for her far worse crime! However, does she even have a case here?

The VA dept. is no help
This falls under numerous DOD fraud and then some.
My card does not stop expire until 2009.
Who in the state dept do I contact?
She has to be stopped.
I know of many others getting new Soc Sec Number. So it is possible.
