Why Is Health Care Unaffordable?

health care fraud
mike m asked:

The way I see it, is that there are too many out there that don’t pay into it, that are getting health care for free. Until they deal with the frauds, and illegals getting helped for free, all of us who pay will have our rates go up to carry the burden. Of course this won’t be addressed because those on welfare (I’m talking those fraudulently on welfare, mind you) vote, and in some cases, so do the illegal immigrants (they ever check your ID card when you go to vote? ME either), and neither side would want to upset potential voters. So, I believe if they change welfare from the open check it is now, to a 2-3 year support system, and make every effort to get illegals out of this country, everything will become more affordable.

Does anyone agree??

    Greed and corruption.

its not I only pay like $26.23 a week for it, thinking of dropping my pharmacy plan though because that is almost as much as the Health Insurance alone! I never use it

The way you see it is wrong, Health care should be for all

    The #1 cause is lawsuits.

We need to just sit down and make reasonable numbers on what compensation people get when doctors mess up. These $100,000,000 awards got to go..

I totally agree. Remember a time before HMO’s, when your doctor knew your name? now we are just a facts spread sheet, a number that goes into a computer so the doctor can get paid.

Welfare is already a 2-3 year support system. The old system of “welfare for life” went out when Bill Clinton was in office. Were you even born yet ? Read up on welfare reform, then come back and let me know what you think. Stop believing everything you hear, and do some research !!

I agree 100%! close the free handouts. make these people get off their tails and go to work, and earn a living for themselves and their families.

Because too many lazy people who refuse to work are on Medicaid; I’m sure this comment will make some people mad, but it’s true!!! I used to working in billing at a hospital and SO MANY PEOPLE were on Medicaid that didn’t need it ! I also met a ton of people who desperately needed Medicaid and couldn’t get it because some lazy-jerk figured out how to scam the system. I had a patient that I had to deal with on a regular basis that received Medicaid. He also drove an Escalade and lived in a bigger house than me and in a better neighborhood. My household income is only about $55,000 a year w/ a $100k mortgage, $300 a month car payment, $400 a month in student loans and the cost of living here STINKS (Michigan) to say the least but I’ve figured out how to make sure my husband and I are insured. I work very hard for a hospital only make about $13.00 and I pay $400 a month for our health insurance that we only use 5-10 x a year. Makes me so mad that I pay $400 a month so other people can have Medicaid for free. People are going to say that’s my employers problem, but it’s not. I work for a hospital, that takes Medicaid, so they have to recoup the costs somewhere (on their employees and on other people who have private health insurance). Do you people know that if someone with Medicaid has a $10,000 bill that the hospital only gets about $200 from Medicaid and has to write the rest off? And people wonder why our economy is in shambles….
